fingers crossed-ness update

OK, so I couldn't sleep last night – not 'cause my fingers were crossed, but because I couldn't stop thinking that Gus-cat was going to pop his small cat-clogs in the vet hospital he's stuck in.
This morning, it was all unchanged (ie, the vet said he was still v.ill), but tonight... they said he's a tiny bit brighter!
Going to try to sleep better tonight. OK, so the Guster is 14 years old (in his 70s in cat years?), but we can but hope, and see how how he's doing in the morning. (If he eats, and stops with the dia-doodah and vom, he gets home, basically.)
Please come home, Gus, you old dude – how can I write my books without you trying to sit on the keyboard while I type?

Sigh...

Urgh... I'm feeling a bit blue today. Gus – the last of my gang of four cats – is pretty sick. He's been at the vets for two days now on a drip, as he's got a really bad gastric infection, the sort young cats would probably get better from really quickly, but he's an old boy now. Hey, you know what I'm saying.
Anyway, guess I'll be sleeping with my fingers crossed tonight...

A thing that makes me go BLEE!

You know something that really annoys me? Chain letters! They are so DUMB!! They are also completely RUBBISH and PANTS. I also don't like mean people, and mean people are those who sit in their rooms in front of their computer and think, "Hmm… I'm bored. Hey, I know! I could make up a nasty chain letter and e-mail it to people, and mess with their heads!"
So BOO to chain letters and BOO to mean people. If you get a chain letter, do the one thing that will disappoint the mean, bored person who made it up – dump it in your trash can. Then go and put on your favourite music loud, dance around the room and yell, "I'm too smart and wonderful to bother with dumb, made-up RUBBISH!".
Anyway, after getting a chain letter today, that's what I'm doing right now (to Kasabian's 'Empire', in case you wanted to know). Join me!

Pleased to meet you!!

That's ALL of you who've been signing up on the site lately (wow, there's a lot of you, and from all around the world!). Hope you enjoy wandering around and noseying at stuff. I try to update as regularly as I can, so do check in now and again for new bits. And feel free to send me your 'Who Do You Love?' photos, 'Reviews' and 'Talk To Me' letters (I'll feature my faves), as well as 'Whees and Blees'. Like my old-skool fans already know, I do read (and LOVE to read) everything that gets sent in, but can't get back to you, 'cause (yep, some people will have heard this already), there's only one of me and gazillions of you, and I'd need an extra couple of days in the week to have time to get back in touch.
Anyway, glad to have you on board...

WELL, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU...

...with big love from me! Hope you've all had great holidays, and had a lovely lazy time off. (My sympathies to those of you who've already started back at school this week!)
Anyhow, I had a v.good time in Scotland, seeing family, friends and dogs (hello Barney, Toby, Rosie, Dixie and new pup Jock!). Oh, and I ate too much chocolate. but that's the law at Christmas, isn't it?
By the way, as a late Christmas present, my publishers have now put out 'AN URGENT MESSAGE OF WOWNESS' as a smaller size paperback (it was big and fancy before), which also means it's cheaper (hurray!). So there's something you might want to buy with your Christmas money. But only if you want to!
Must go - got to get on with my NEW novel, which'll be out later this year... (you all read my books so quickly that I have to write new stuff all the time!).

Merry... Everything!!

Right. I’m off to Scotland for a week or two, so I just wanted to say…
1)   Thank you to EVERYONE who’s written to me and the website throughout the year. I can’t write back to you all (too many of you and only one little me!), but I promise that I do read everything that is sent and love your letters!
2)   I can’t upload every fan letter, review etc, but promise I’ll do it more next year, when I’ll have a bit more time (been soooooo busy this year writing my books that I haven’t been able to update the website as much as I’d have liked).
3)   Will blog at New Year, and tell you all the new, exciting stuff coming your way in 2008…

Sadie coming soon!

OK, so the NEW SERIES is nearly here... it's out in February, to be precise!
It's called 'SADIE ROCKS', and it stars the sarky and sussed Sadie Bird and her annoying twin brother Sonny (OK, so maybe he's only annoying to Sadie!).
There're feuding best friends and bizarre boredom-busting rituals; there's rock music addiction, a dad with bad taste in shirts, a cat called Dog and even a pet Christmas tree...
Look out for details of the fantastic COMPETITION to launch the series soon!!

Oooh, it's been ages...

...since I blogged, I mean. Sorry it's taken so long, but it's not like I've been lying about watching day-time TV and nibbling crisps. Oh no – I've been writing like mad! I've finished the second book in my new series (check next blog for exclusive news on it!) AND I've finished the newest addition to the 'Indie Kidd' series too. Busy, busy, busy!
I promise I'll do some updates on the site over the next few evenings (my little girl's off school sick, so I can't do it in the daytime). Be nice (you might like it!)

I saw two telly programmes that stuck in my mind last week – one was 'Brat Camp', where a truly horrible teenage girl was truly horrible to her mum, and the second was an episode of 'Charlie and Lola' (hey, it's my daughter's favourite!) where a bickering Charlie and Lola end up deciding to be nice to each other, and say "Yes!" instead of "No!" all the time.
Both shows got me thinking how easy it is to get annoyed with members of your family – mainly 'cause you're stuck with each other full-time – but how depressing and boring it is to live in an atmosphere of constant bickering. So if you find yourself sniping at a family someone, or they snipe at you, why not try being nice, and see how it goes? At best, you could get along a whole lot better, and at worst, your niceness might confuse whoever's driving you mad, which could be pretty fun!
