Is Mrs S-T for real?

I got an e-mail from Phoebe (hi, Phoebe!) who asked if Mrs S-T from 'Stella Etc' was based on anyone. Well, she's a lot like my friend Alice, who was funny, chatty, friendly and very special, and in her eighties when I knew her! (She has a dedication in the second 'Ally's World' book.) She was fantastically down-to-earth, but always seemed to me to have a magical aura about her. So she was the perfect inspiration for Mrs S-T!

Hi. Mrs S-T reminds me of my Grandma. Grandma would go around handing toffees to everyone when she's in her eighties. I hope she doesn't. Fibi

Hi Karen, oh, i keep forgetting about Mrs Sticky Toffee/S-T! She seemed such a nice woman, so chatty and kind to Stella. I'm glad Stella's brothers never met her 'cause then they'd be pestering Stella even more than before! I wish i had someone like Mrs S-T to chat to at school sometimes at breaktimes! Katz xxx
